Mike, this isnt Obama’s fault?! HE SIGNED THE BILL!!! Rand Paul tried to add an amendment that would exclude citizens… it was voted down. You can find that footage from the senate floor on youtube if you’re interested. I blame the congress, the house, the senate, and the Obama administration for passing this revolting legislation…

He should have never signed that bill. Even though I lean left I definately think that the powers of the government should definately be limited in certian areas. A republican would have signed the bill too and I still think that the democrats are the lesser of two evils, but honestly, he should have not hesitated to veto it as soon as it touched his desk. Politics is B.S. and giving the ability to indefinately detain citizens to a politically elected figure is a terrible idea.

I’ll ask the same question I asked when Bush did the same thing. What is so bad about our justice system that it can be used for everything else but not terrorism? There is no basis for dealing with some crimes outside of the existing justice system unless that system is too broken to deal with anything.

Me: Obama wanted the language that exempted US citizens and Legal residents from military jurisdiction on US soil removed from the bill so that the military could indefinitely detain US citizens. He threatened to veto the bill if it contained those exemptions.
